Mountain Ranger Run, Mountain Bike Race & Duathalon
To Benefit Local Charities May 10, 2008
The Open House follows the Ranger Mountain Run. You are invited to watch as some of the Army's finest soldiers demonstrate the skills and professionalism of the American Ranger.
Both races start at Camp Frank D. Merrill and wind through the Chattahoochee National Forest in a hilly loop along non-paved Forest Service roads & trails. Come up early and run the morning away. Early entry fee $16 - After May 3, fee is $20.
34K Mountain Ranger Bike Race For the somewhat more adventurous crowd, this course is 34km in length. The course is challenging enough for advanced riders yet forgiving enough for beginners. Early entry fee $20 - After May 3, fee is $25. Mountain Ranger Duathalon For those who desire the maximum experience of what the Chattahoochee National Forest has to offer this is the event for you. Participants will start with the 5K racers, transitions into a 34K bike route, and then end with a 2 mile run on the 5K route. Early entry fee $25 - After May 3, fee is $30.
If your organization, club, or business can get a team together to tackle this course, enter our Ranger Team Challenge. Each team must consist of 6 members. Your team must stay together throughout the 15K course. The team entry fee is $100 per team, and team registrations must be mailed in together. Early entry fee $100 - After May 3, fee is $120. One-Mile Fun Run A returning favorite this year. The one-mile fun run takes participants around the airfield. Each participant will receive a 2005 Mountain Ranger Run T-shirt and upon completion will receive a ribbon. Early entry fee $5 - After May 3, fee is $8. Water will be provided along the course. Fruit & drinks at the finish line Showers are available for use (male and female). A limited number of lockers are available for participants use. Details and Directions Location From the square in Dahlonega, go north on Bus. Hwy 19 approximately 2 miles, turn left on Wahsega Road, go to the end of Wahsega Road (approx. 9 miles) to Camp Merrill. Plan 30 minutes to travel from Dahlonega and get parked. Photo ID will be required to enter Camp Merrill. All items will be subject to search. 2006 Mountain Ranger Run T-Shirts will be given to all participants. Paid entries prior to May 3rd will receive a T-shirt on race day; others may have to be mailed. Awards Trophies will be presented to the O/A Male & Female and O/A male & female masters and top 3 finishers in each of the following age groups: 14 & under, 15-19, 20-24, 25-29, 30-34, 35-39, 40-44, 45-49, 50-54, 55-59, 60-64, 65- 69, 70 & over; (Male/Female) finishers. Trophies will be awarded to the top 3 Teams competing in the Team Challenge.
